Dusktune in the Tesla

Dusktune runs in the Tesla’s built-in browser, made for passengers — the driver shouldn’t be watching video or tapping around while driving.

Opening it

Open dusktune.com in the car browser. The app detects the car and switches on car mode by itself: the side menu starts collapsed so the video gets the wide screen, and the buttons that don’t work in the car — AirPlay, Cast to TV, Background, and the voice-search microphone — are hidden, because the car browser has no microphone and no cast sender.

Controlling playback

On the watch page there is always a Previous / Play / Next row right under the player, so you don’t have to scroll to the controls on the wide car screen. The easiest setup is Phone Remote: the code appears on the car screen by itself, you scan it with a phone, and the phone does the searching and picking — nobody types on the car screen.

If car mode doesn’t switch on

Open dusktune.com/?car=1 once in the car browser — that turns car mode on and it sticks for that browser. There is also a Car mode row in the side menu that toggles it on and off.

Voice search in the car

Voice search doesn’t work in the car browser: the microphone button is hidden because the car exposes no working microphone to web pages. Type the search, or use the phone remote and type there instead.
